Water Main Break Floods Delancey Street

At least 78 firefighters and 15 fire engines responded to a water main break at the corner of Delancey and Bowery streets around 6:55 am on Feb. 14. Residents complained they had to deal with a sea of water instead of flowers on a special day. The traffic was almost paralyzed in the morning rush hours. Workers from the New York City Department of Environment Protection fixed the problem at 12:30 pm. Singtao Daily (B1) World Journal

Cops Collared Robbery Suspect in Minutes

Thanks to cops from the 5th Precinct’s anti-crime unit and detective squad, a 33-year-old suspect was arrested minutes after he and another suspect fled-away after robbing a 71-year-old senior citizen Tuesday morning. It happened around 11:30am in front of 103 Eldridge Street. Two suspects followed a 71-year-old senior citizen and approached him from different directions for robbery. The victim handed them his purse and cell phone without being hurt. He calmed himself down and walked to a nearby HSBC bank to call 911. Plain-clothes cops quickly responded, found a suspect that fit the description, and made an arrest. Singtao Daily (B1)

The Most Romantic VaLINtine’s Day

It was the most romantic Valentine’s Day for Jeremy Lin fans. Jeremy Lin led the Knicks in come-from-behind game against the Raptors and made the buzzer-beating, game winning three pointer. He even electrified fans in a different country on Tuesday. Upon claiming the sixth straight victory as the team’s point guard, Jeremy Lin gave credits to all his teammates. A young lady, watching the game at Applebee’s in Flushing, said “I feel like kissing him!” World Journal (C1)

They Started a Family 86 Years Ago

Sixteen couples celebrated and shared the joy of their pearl/diamond anniversary at the Project Open Door Senior Citizens Center on Tuesday, Feb. 14. There was a couple who came from Burma (Myanmar), they’ve been married for eighty-six years. They raised eight children, fourteen grandchildren, and sixteen grand grand children. Valentines Phil and Shawn Made History at Empire Building

The Empire State Building, for the first time, hosted a same-sex wedding yesterday. Phil Fung and Shawn Klein were the select few chosen to attend nuptials on Valentine’s Day on the 61st floor of the Empire State Building. Phil Fung, 49-years-old, said he fell in love with Shawn Klein at first sight. They met at Roxy, a famous Manhattan nightclub, and have been together ever since. World Journal (C3)
